Services provided by our agency or program: Breathe California Central Coast (BCCC) is dedicated to preventing lung disease, promoting lung health, and protecting air quality for all people living in the Central Coast Counties of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo. We accomplish this through education, research, and advocacy. Education includes responding community requests for information and referrals, outreach programs dedicated to educating underserved populations, and training volunteers to become health educators. Research includes providing funding for clinical studies and statistical evaluations of our education programs. Advocacy includes support of local, state, and federal public policy that promotes lung health and air quality.
What populations or organizations does your agency serve?
BCCC serves all people in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo counties.
Special consideration is given to the 30% of the population that suffers
from respiratory disease and the medically underserved. Current projects
address the need for access to good health information, air quality concerns,
and tobacco related illness and education.
